Three popular Stonewall Kitchen sauces – and their new alternatives from Easton Reed
"When is the Honey Barbecue Sauce coming back?"
We receive this question almost daily. And usually, it doesn't stop at one variety: the Smoky Peach Whiskey Sauce and the Baby Back Rib Sauce from Stonewall Kitchen are also frequently requested.
We understand this completely. For many years, these sauces were among the most popular products at American Heritage. They were on the table at countless barbecues, enjoyed with burgers, chicken wings, and ribs, or given as a special gift. We know their taste and know exactly which bottle belonged to which dish. That is why today we want to be open about why these three sauces are sold out – and, above all, show you the new alternatives that have since arrived at our store.
Are the Stonewall Kitchen sauces coming back?
The honest answer is: Unfortunately, we are not able to restock the Baby Back Rib Sauce, the Smoky Peach Whiskey Sauce, and the Honey Barbecue Sauce from Stonewall Kitchen in their previous formulas.
This is due neither to a lack of demand nor to the quality of the products. Quite the contrary: all three were among our most sought-after BBQ sauces.
The reason is changed EU requirements for products containing honey and for formulas with certain smoke flavorings. For imported honey, the country of origin, the involved operations, and the supply chain must, among other things, comply with European import regulations. Since November 29, 2024, exporting companies from third countries must be officially listed for export to the EU. At the same time, the authorizations for eight previously used smoke flavorings were not renewed; the transition period for sauces and many other food products ended on July 1, 2026.
For international manufacturers, this often means that ingredients would need to be replaced, supply chains rebuilt, and custom recipes developed for Europe. Unfortunately, with smaller European production volumes, this additional effort cannot always be implemented in the long term.
Regarding remaining honey and smoke sauces such as Honey Sriracha, Hot Honey Wing, Hickory Brown Sugar, and the Teriyaki sauces, we unfortunately only have remaining stock available.
The good news: Our new Easton Reed sauces are here
We didn't want to simply accept that three such popular flavors would disappear from our assortment.
That is why we developed new sauces for the European market with Easton Reed. They are not exact copies of the previous products. Each variety has its own recipe and character. At the same time, they capture exactly the flavor profiles that many of our customers particularly enjoyed over the years.
So, there is now a robust Ribhouse sauce, a fruity Peach Whiskey sauce, and a mild Honey BBQ sauce available again. And since we were at it, it turned into an entire collection of eight different sauces.
The alternative to the Baby Back Rib Sauce: Ribhouse BBQ
The Baby Back Rib Sauce by Stonewall Kitchen was known especially for its mild, well-rounded BBQ flavor with molasses, tomato, and a slight hint of smoke.
Our new Easton Reed Ribhouse BBQ Sauce continues this direction in its own way. Brown sugar, dark molasses, tomato, roasted garlic, mustard, and smoked vinegar give it a robust, hearty character.
It tastes full-bodied, slightly sweet, and pleasantly savory – exactly what you want for a good BBQ.
The Ribhouse BBQ Sauce pairs excellently with:
- Ribs and Spare Ribs
- Pulled Pork
- Burgers
- Chicken Wings
- Sausages and Steak
- Fries and Potato Wedges
- Hearty Sandwiches
- Grilled and Roasted Vegetables
It can be used as a classic barbecue sauce, as a dip, for marinating, or for glazing meat. It also works very well in autumn and winter with baked potatoes, raclette, and fondue.
Our recommendation for everyone who previously bought the Baby Back Rib Sauce: Easton Reed Ribhouse BBQ Sauce.
The alternative to the Smoky Peach Whiskey Sauce: Peach Whiskey
The Smoky Peach Whiskey Sauce was one of the most unusual sauces from Stonewall Kitchen: fruity peach, whiskey, honey, mustard, and a light hickory note.
The Easton Reed Peach Whiskey Sauce takes up the popular combination of peach and whiskey, but interprets it somewhat more elegantly and versatilely.
Sun-ripened peaches meet sweet onions, mild mustard, roasted garlic, and a fine hint of Scotch whisky. The whisky is not loudly at the forefront; rather, it gives the sauce a warm depth and forms a beautiful counterpoint to the fruitiness of the peach.
Peach Whiskey pairs particularly well with:
- Grilled Chicken
- Pork
- Burgers
- Grilling Cheese
- Oven Dishes
- Sandwiches
- Brie, Cheddar, and Mountain Cheese
- Crostini and Toasted Bread
During our first tastings, we particularly liked the sauce with cheese. It works almost like a fruity chutney here, but is more savory and versatile.
Peach Whiskey is also a wonderful choice as a gift or a guest contribution for a barbecue evening.
Our recommendation for everyone who misses Smoky Peach Whiskey: Easton Reed Peach Whiskey Sauce.
The alternative to the Honey Barbecue Sauce: Honey BBQ
The Honey Barbecue Sauce was one of the absolute bestsellers from Stonewall Kitchen for many years. Many liked it precisely because it was mild, pleasantly sweet, and not too smoky or spicy.
We developed the Easton Reed Honey BBQ Sauce specifically for those customers.
Tomato, real honey, brown sugar, mild mustard, and selected spices create a well-rounded, balanced barbecue sauce without heat. It is uncomplicated, family-friendly, and goes with almost everything from the grill or the oven.
It tastes especially good with:
- Chicken Wings
- Burgers
- Sausages
- Pork
- Fries
- Potato Dishes
- Grilled Vegetables
- Sandwiches
It is also excellent for use as a marinade or glaze. Anyone who previously combined the Honey Barbecue Sauce with curry powder for a quick currywurst sauce can certainly try doing the same with the new Easton Reed sauce.
Our recommendation for all fans of the Stonewall Kitchen Honey Barbecue Sauce: Easton Reed Honey BBQ Sauce.
And because three sauces weren't enough...
When developing Easton Reed, we didn't just want to fill existing gaps. We wanted to create a sauce range that covers various tastes and dishes – from classic American BBQ to cheese, raclette, bowls, and Asian-inspired recipes.
That is why five additional varieties complement the collection.
Maple Chipotle Sauce
Canadian maple syrup meets spicy chipotle chili, tomato, molasses, and roasted onion. The sauce is sweet, savory, and slightly spicy; it pairs particularly well with burgers, ribs, chicken, sweet potatoes, and grilled vegetables.
Honey Chili Barbecue Sauce
For anyone who likes to combine honey with a bit of spice: this sauce is sweet and lively, but not overly spicy. Very good with chicken wings, burgers, grilled cheese, fries, and finger food.
Raspberry Chipotle Sauce
One of our personal favorite sauces. Fruity raspberry combines with chipotle, tomato, and lemon to create a sweet-savory sauce that goes excellently not only with poultry and game but also with brie, camembert, and goat cheese.
Apple Onion Fig Sauce
Black fig, apple, sweet onion, and balsamic vinegar make this variety a particularly versatile companion for cheese, meat, sandwiches, raclette, and festive dishes.
Ginger Teriyaki Sauce
Caramelized ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, and roasted garlic bring a completely different direction to the range. The sauce pairs well with chicken, salmon, tofu, vegetables, bowls, and wok dishes.
All eight Easton Reed sauces are now available in the American Heritage shop.
Are the new sauces exactly like the old ones?
No – and they aren't intended to be.
We didn't want to create an exact copy. The Easton Reed recipes were developed independently and have been newly tuned in flavor. They pick up on familiar directions while introducing new ingredients and combinations.
The Ribhouse BBQ Sauce is more robust and savory than the former Baby Back Rib Sauce. Peach Whiskey is somewhat fruitier and contains Scotch whisky. The Honey BBQ Sauce comes closest to the mild, sweet character of its predecessor.
Our wish was not just to offer replacement products, but sauces that can become new favorites in their own right.
What is happening with Stonewall Kitchen?
Stonewall Kitchen will, of course, remain an important part of American Heritage.
We will continue to offer all products that we can import to Europe in a legally secure and reliable manner. At the same time, we must accept that individual long-standing bestsellers will no longer be available in their previous form due to new requirements.
We know that many customers have become accustomed to certain products over the years. Therefore, it is important to us to inform you openly and not just leave a permanent "Coming back soon" notice in the shop.
Regarding Baby Back Rib, Smoky Peach Whiskey, and Honey Barbecue, we can state clearly today: The previous sauces are not returning – but suitable new alternatives are already on the shelves.
Perhaps the alternative will become a new favorite sauce
Of course, a new recipe doesn't automatically replace the memory of a long-standing favorite. But sometimes it is worth opening a new bottle and trying it with an open mind.
Perhaps the Ribhouse BBQ Sauce will become the go-to sauce for your ribs in the future. Perhaps Peach Whiskey won't just end up at the grill, but regularly on your cheese board. Or Raspberry Chipotle will become the variety that everyone asks about during your next visit.
The new Easton Reed sauces are here now.
So: Fire up the grill, open a bottle, and discover a new favorite sauce.
