A Sunday breakfast with pancakes and delicious maple syrup, a barbecue evening with juicy burgers and the best sauces, a cozy winter day with the pleasant smell of scented candles in the air or a warm summer morning on the terrace in a rocking chair... All of this is pure American joie de vivre that we want to bring into your home.
My name is Sabine Ryan – I am the founder and CEO of American Heritage . For many years, I painstakingly brought beautiful things for myself and gifts for friends from the USA back to Germany. My suitcase was often overweight – and some things simply wouldn't fit at all.
My green rocking chair is a perfect example. I fell in love with it instantly. It simply had to come with me to Germany. By plane? No chance. And because it exceeded the size restrictions, no parcel service would ship it to Germany. That's how the idea was born: to import not just this one rocking chair, but many of them by ship and sell them in Germany. First at trade fairs, and then in my own shop.
The ideas for the rest of our initial product range came from our own household – from candles and baking tins to barbecue accessories , maple syrup , and home decor . We filled a shipping container, and in 2005 we opened our first store in Augsburg's old town . It was the beginning of something truly special. More stores followed in Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, and Stuttgart . We even expanded beyond Germany's borders and opened a store in Salzburg .
American Heritage is my personal American dream come true – even if the import process sometimes resembles an American nightmare. Supply shortages, tariffs, quality checks, regulations, and food inspections are just a few keywords that roughly describe how complex the import process is.
Many years of experience – and undoubtedly some hard-earned lessons – have made us very strong in this area. We have the know-how and understand exactly what's important when importing. That's why we've decided to significantly expand our online business with Europe-wide shipping and supply a limited number of wholesalers with our selected products. However, we didn't want to completely abandon brick-and-mortar retail . Maintaining direct contact with our customers, friends, and partners is very important to us.
That's why there's still a shop in Augsburg's Martinipark . It almost feels like being in Brooklyn , New York – industrial style in a brick building with soaring ceilings and huge windows. There – and of course online – we sell our gourmet food products from American family businesses like Stonewall Kitchen , Rufus Teague , and Crown Maple , as well as the special scented candles from Kringle Candle and Country Candle , which we offer exclusively in some European countries.
I personally decide which products to include in our range. Not only quality , but also the philosophy of our suppliers plays a major role for me. I know them all personally and visit their facilities to see their work firsthand – this is an important part of American Heritage's corporate culture .
Our heart beats for all our products – and that's exactly what we want you, our customers, to feel.
Our passion for this product is so great that we now produce it ourselves. At our Augsburg popcorn factory, Everly Grace , we conjure up delicious popcorn according to our unique recipes. From Raspberry Drizzle and Caramel & Sea Salt Sensation to Pumpkin Spice Perfection – all our varieties are freshly created for our customers using high-quality, natural ingredients and no artificial colors.
The joy of developing new creative recipes and receiving enthusiastic feedback from our customers is a special motivation!

By the way... the green rocking chair that started it all still exists today. Not only is it immortalized in the American Heritage logo , but it still has a place of honor in my home. I often sit in this chair, my thoughts flying through all the years with American Heritage and the valuable encounters with you - our loyal and valued customers .
