Grantham Gingerbread Cookies from Hawkens Gingerbread
Alastair Hawken saved Grantham Gingerbread from disappearing into the history books when he learned that production of the biscuits his town had always been famous for had ceased. Alastair started baking without having a recipe and after much experimentation, failure, refinement and focus group taste testing, the product was brought back to market and became the success it is today. After a chance meeting with a fourth generation family member of William Eggleston, it later turned out that the recipe was identical to the original! So gingerbread lovers not only in England can still enjoy the classic taste of Grantham Gingerbread today.
These bite-sized Grantham Gingerbread Cookies are known as "white ginger cookies" because they are not made with syrup like most ginger cookies. The result is a cookie with a very light, very tender and very delicious crunchy delight. Grantham Gingerbread Cookies, with their buttery vanilla and honeycomb flavor and subtle hint of ginger, are sure to keep you buying a pack of them again and again!
