Gingernuts Cookies from Hawkens Gingerbread
The Hawkens Gingernuts are by far the best tasting gingernuts we have ever come across. They are hot and fiery, as befits a ginger nut cookie. The rich butterfat combined with a unique blend of spices and crystallized ginger bits make these nuts a cookie you will quickly become obsessed with. The gingernuts are packaged in an attractive cardboard box printed with a copper metallic paint. On the side panel you will find the history of the ginger nut cookie, its origins and its popularity around the world, including the different names used for the cookie in different countries.
Alastair Hawken saved Grantham Gingerbread from disappearing into the history books when he learned that production of the biscuits his town had always been famous for had ceased. Alastair started baking without having a recipe and after much experimentation, failure, refinement and focus group taste testing, the product was brought back to market and became the success it is today. After a chance meeting with a fourth generation family member of William Eggleston, it later turned out that the recipe was identical to the original! So gingerbread lovers not only in England can still enjoy the classic taste of England's oldest biscuit recipe today.
