Crown Maple's delicious maple syrup is produced on Madava Farms , a 300-hectare site in the picturesque Hudson Valley in New York State. The site was used for agriculture until the outbreak of the American Civil War; when it was left fallow, countless maple trees began to grow on it. Former banker and founder of Crown Maple Rob Turner purchased the site in 2007 for himself and his wife as a vacation spot. He learned from his new neighbors that there were around 20,000 maple trees on his newly purchased property and decided to start producing maple syrup. The first batch was produced in 2011 and today, just a few years later, Crown Maple's maple syrup is considered to be the highest quality in the world.
In the so-called reverse osmosis , a special, patented process for producing Crown Maple maple syrup, around 80% of the water content is removed from the maple sap and impurities are filtered out. Incidentally, whether maple syrup is light or dark depends on the time of harvest. The later it is harvested, the darker the color and the stronger the flavor. Crown Maple maple syrup is used in numerous New York Michelin-starred restaurants.
