The basic recipe for all Dean's shortbread creations originated in Helen Dean's kitchen in 1975. Her husband was so delighted with her homemade shortbread that he decided to fund his local marching band with the sale of the treats. Thanks to the ensemble's tours throughout England, Helen's baking skills soon became known everywhere. It wasn't long before she had to move from her kitchen to her own bakery in the village to meet customer demand. When even this was no longer enough, a large bakery was built on the outskirts of the village in 1992, which has since been supplying sweet tooths internationally with cookies and other delicacies based on Helen's original shortbread recipe. Tradition is very important to Dean's and so the company Dean's Shortbread is still family-owned and produces classic British treats in elaborate handwork for the highest quality.
